Hi my name is Jose. I’m a biology major. I want to transfer to a UC, preferably UCLA. I enjoy being an Outreach Peer Advisor because I get to help students in the early steps of their college experience. This is important to me because I wish someone would have helped or guided me when I was first starting my college experience. College of the Canyons is an excellent campus and the staff are very supportive. With any question a student may have, staff are there and ready to help. That’s what makes College of the Canyons such an outstanding school and the reason I attend this college.

My name is Kathy and I am a Psychology major. I am hoping to transfer to one of the following private institutions: Loyola Marymount, USC, or Chapman University beginning Fall 2017. As an Outreach Peer Advisor I get an inside look of what College of the Canyons has to offer, and I relay the information to help other students. Additionally, I have the opportunity to work with amazing faculty, staff, and students. Aside from being a OPA, I am involved in the Associated Student Government. Last year I was the Social Student Involvement Coordinator, and presently I am the Vice President of Activities. Both positions enable me to compose various events to enliven campus life. With all this, I can definitely say I am proud to be a COC student!

Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am an English and marketing major at College of the Canyons. I plan to transfer to a university in the near future, but I am still unsure where that will be. I enjoy working here at COC as an Outreach Peer Advisor because I get to interact with people who, under other circumstances, I would normally never cross paths with. It has been a blessing working here and meeting new people while gaining job experience that will help me in my next phase of life.

My name is Tessa and I am a sociology major at COC. I enjoy working as an Outreach Peer Advisor because I get to meet new people every day. Becoming an OPA has also helped me discover my passion for helping fellow students and community members become more familiar with COC and everything it has to offer. Attending COC has been a blessing for me as it has allowed me to realize my full academic potential, as well as discover my passion for sociology, social justice, and education. I love COC because the faculty is so helpful and there are so many resources available to students. I could not imagine starting my academic career anywhere else!
