Databases

The library subscribes to a number of article databases, including a number focused on specific disciplines.Many databases will include full text of journal articles. In addition, Films on Demand and INTELECOM online provide streaming video content on a wide variety of subjects. Contact the librarians for assistance in using any of these resources.

College Source** (Includes over 73,000 digital college catalogs, institution profiles, transcript keys, and other critical resources. Available off-campus but without links to PDF catalogs.)

Contemporary Authors** (Complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 U.S.and international authors.)

CountryWatch** (Up-to-date economic, political and social data about every country on the globe.)

Daily Life Through History** (Cross-disciplinary resource that supports history, social studies, English, and language students; gives life to history and context to current events.)

Encyclopedia of Management** (Covers numerous topics in management theories and applications.)

ERIC** (Education literature and resources.)

European Views of the Americas: 1493 to 1750** (Provides access to more than 32,000 entries and is a comprehensive guide to printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750.)

Films on Demand** (Films on Demand offers full-length videos on a wide variety of subjects.)

19th Century US Newspapers Digital Archive**-Provides primary source newspaper content from the 19th Century.

Nursing Resource Center** (Designed to support nursing programs at two-year community colleges with a wide array of content.)

Primary Search** (Provides full text for more than 70 magazines for elementary school research.)

ProQuest Direct** (Citations, abstracts, and full-text articles and graphics from more than 10,000 magazines, journals and newspapers.)

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection** (Information concerning topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational & experimental methods. Includes full text.)

RAND California (Contains more than 80 statistical databases on California, from employment to social security payment to SAT scores)

Regional Business News** (Comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications.)

Science Full Text Select** (Provides access to more than 400 full-text journals covering subjects in the areas of biology, life sciences, technology, and engineering.

Slavery & Anti-Slavery: A Transnational Archive**-Provides access to collections on the transatlantic slave trade, the global movement for the abolition of slavery, and the legal, personal, and economic aspects of the slavery system.

Statista**-(Provides access to over one million statistics and facts.)

The Times (London) Digital Archive 1785-1985**-(Provides access to every issue of The Times (London) from 1785-1985.)

Web News** (Provides near real-time access to thousands of top news feeds from around the world.)

These databases are accessible free of charge from any networked computers on campus.

**Databases with asterisks (**) are also accessible from off-campus by students, faculty and staff of College of the Canyons but require passwords. Instructors are given the username and password to distribute in their classes. Check with your instructor. Otherwise, contact the reference desk at 661-362-3362 for off-campus access to these databases.
