Course Description

Welcome! This class: Examines the major physical, psychosocial, and cognitive/language developmental milestones of children, both typical and atypical from conception through adolescence. Emphasizing interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors while studying developmental theory and investigative research methodologies. Field observation required (this requirement is modified during COVID).

What to Expect in this Course

 

This course examines the major physical, psychosocial, and cognitive/language developmental milestones of children, both typical and atypical from conception through adolescence. Emphasizing interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors while studying developmental theory and investigative research methodologies.

By the end of this course you should be able to . . . Apply developmental theory to the milestones for children conception through adolescence in the areas of physical, psychosocial, cognitive and language development.

Typical Weekly Schedule:

Weekly modules open Friday nights at midnight for the upcoming week. It is highly recommended that sometime over the weekend, you look through the upcoming week module to understand the workload.

Initial discussion posts are due on Fridays by midnight and responses to classmates and major assignments are due Sunday nights.

Please note that there is more weekly assignments in courses that are taught during winter and summer sessions because of the shorter nature of the courses. Most students will need access nearly every day during these shorter courses.
