Innovation
Located on a 70-acre site along Sierra Highway, the Canyon Country Campus has become a vital part of College of the Canyons. More than 5,000 students now attend classes here every semester. Opened in 2007, the campus provides access to a wide range of transfer preparation and career/technical education classes. Sixteen different associate degrees are available to students wishing to take classes exclusively at the Canyon Country Campus. The full schedule of offerings is a demonstration of the commitment the Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees has made to increase access to higher education in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The campus is composed of 32 modular buildings housing 29 smart general classrooms, 15 labs, a library, a tutoring center, a study lounge, a childhood education center, and a student study lounge, along with support services including counseling, admissions, a student health center, a testing center, and food services. Planned future buildings include a 21,000-square-foot Science Building, a 40,000-square-foot classroom and student resource center, and another 21,000-square-foot building. Potential future buildings include a planetarium and science center. Depending on the availability of state construction funds, the campus is expected to be completely built out by 2030.
