Important Safety Notice

September 28, 2018

Two recent incidents related to safety on campus serve as important reminders to always stay alert to what is happening around you, and to say something to Campus Safety or a college employee if you see something suspicious.

A student at the Canyon Country campus was approached in Quad 4 this week around 6:30 p.m. by two women who asked her to go with them to review Bible verses about God the Mother. The women followed the student and continued trying to talk to her even after she declined their offer. The two women are described as well-dressed, approximately middle-aged, and heavy-set. One was Caucasian and the other African-American.

The second situation involves the shooting of upskirt videos of female students at the Valencia campus and posting them online. The videos were shot from behind as students walked up different stairways around the campus. We have notified the SCV Sheriffs Station, and they have the videos. If you are approached by the two women described above, or see someone you believe is attempting to film inappropriate videos, please report it immediately.

Call the Communication Center/Mailroom at either campus, and ask them to contact Campus Safety by radio to have an officer sent to your location.

From your cell phone:

Press 0 when you hear the automated greeting.
  • Canyon Country: (661) 362-3800
Press 0 when you hear the automated greeting.

From a campus phone:

If you have had a similar encounter with the women described, or think you may have been filmed without your consent, please contact Campus Safety so they can follow up with you:

Maintaining the safety and security of our college is a collective effort, and we appreciate your help in addressing these situations.

Your involvement does make a difference.
