Confirmed Case and Exposures

February 16, 2021

We are writing to provide notification that a member of the College of the Canyons community has been diagnosed with COVID-19. We received this information on Feb. 13.

A student, who was attending classes in the University Center and Aliso Hall, was last at the Valencia campus on Feb. 11. The student received a positive diagnosis on Feb. 12 and notified the district on Feb. 13. Contact tracing showed that a faculty member and six other students were exposed. The positive student, exposed faculty member and six students will quarantine for the required period.

As mentioned in earlier cases, we understand the desire to know more about this situation. However, we must balance the concern that we all have for our co-workers with privacy laws. With that in mind, we are not able to provide more detail that could identify these individuals.

We have notified the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health about the positive case.

For more information about COVD-19, we encourage you to visit the CDC website and review the Frequently Asked Questions.
