Confirmed Cases

Confirmed Cases and Exposures

Update

December 30, 2021

Additional testing required by the L.A. County Department of Public Health revealed that one additional employee and six more students were confirmed to have COVID-19, bringing the total of positive cases to 11. Additional contact tracing identified 10 other people who were considered exposed, bringing the total to 15.

Those who were confirmed positive will continue to isolate for the required period. Those exposed will either monitor for symptoms or quarantine for the required period. As noted earlier, the affected individuals have not been on campus since Dec. 22.

Original Notification

December 28, 2021

We are writing to provide notification about four confirmed COVID-19 cases that were reported to the district and resulted in five exposures.

One employee and three students who were last on the Valencia campus in West PE on Dec. 22 have tested positive. Contact tracing showed five people were exposed.

Because the four positive cases are associated with one another, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) considers this a COVID-19 outbreak. We have notified DPH, as required, and they have asked that those on campus who are considered close contacts (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) of the affected individuals and are not already confirmed to have COVID-19 be tested. That testing took place yesterday.

In the meantime, those who are confirmed positive will continue to isolate for the required period. Those exposed will either monitor for symptoms or quarantine for the required period.

As mentioned in earlier cases, we understand the desire to know more about these situations. However, we must balance the concern that we all have for our co-workers and students with privacy laws. With that in mind, we are not able to provide more detail that could identify these individuals.

As a reminder, please continue to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms each day before coming to campus. Do not enter campus if you are currently experiencing, or have in the past 14 days experienced:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Chills
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, diarrhea or vomiting
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact our COVID-19 Compliance Team at covid@streetconsultinggroup.com or (661) 993-7670.

Vaccinations and Boosters

COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots are available at both campuses on Tuesday and Wednesday each week. All three vaccinations – Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen – are available. Boosters are available on a walk-up basis to those who have received both doses of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine six or more months ago. Educators and others with high institutional or occupational risk are eligible. More information about vaccinations is available at myturn.ca.gov.
