COLLEGE STUDENTS, PARENTS, EDUCATORS,

AND ANYONE INTERESTED IN PARENTING CLASSES

Just as childcare is not provided for onsite FKCE classes, please refrain from having your children, pets,

other family members, or anyone who is not registered for the workshop in the virtual class with you.

If childcare is an issue, please select a workshop time where you can participate undisturbed.

IN A TIMELY MANNER

Admittance to the workshop will close 15 minutes after the start time.

You must be available for the entire duration of the training hours

Low enrolled workshops are subject to cancellation.

and will be e-mailed as a PDF within one week following completion of the workshop

Body Shaming:  Understanding Why Teen Girls Engage in It

Body shaming is the act of criticizing another person’s physical appearance. Did you know that according to a national study, 94% of teen girls have been body shamed? It is hurtful, and it makes a teen girl feel sad, depressed, and ashamed of her body. In this workshop, you will learn why some teen girls body shame others, and what roles social media and popular culture have to do in spreading these negative attitudes. We will give you the tools to understand what is going on and how not to let negative opinions keep your light from shining bright. (RR/SS)

Special Care Increment Training*

Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday, June 4, 5, AND 6, 2024

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The Special Care Increment (SCI) Training is the 12-hour foundational training (which replaces the D & F rate pre-service training) for resource parents who are caring for children, adolescents, and non-minor dependents who require specialized care resulting in resource parents going above and beyond the basic level of care (LOC) to meet a child’s health, physical, emotional, behavioral, educational, permanency and family service needs. This training covers an overview and explanation of LOC & SCI, substance use, medication and behavior management, the impact of trauma on development, navigating the educational system, birth parent engagement, self-care, and resources for successful SCI placement.

*You MUST complete all 12 hours to receive a certificate.

LGBTQIA+ - A Community of Beautiful Youth Who Need Our Love

Tuesday, June 11, 2024

6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

We have a beautiful community of kiddoes in care that need our very best in order to meet their needs. In this workshop, participants will explore Sexuality and Gender and how best to support a youth that is exploring. They will learn which terms are honoring to use and which terms are not. They will learn the importance of proper binding techniques for Trans female youth and how to avoid hurting them. The resources provided will help them as a caregiver to navigate a world that may look different from our own. (RR/SS)
