Introduction
This letter is to provide you with important information that will hopefully help you decide if this Lab instruction is a right fit for you. Students will join Instruction on the scheduled days at specific times In-person at the Valencia campus. The lecture portion of this class is a separate course listed under Surv 102A and should be added additional to your schedule to get the most out of this section.

Course Description
Surveying 102L presents advanced concepts in land surveying, field practice, and
calculations, including equipment knowledge, equipment use, horizontal curves, vertical
curves, construction staking, earthwork, stadia, topography and traversing.
What to Expect in this Course
Lab materials will be provided during class and/or posted in Canvas. You will be participating in class individually and in groups. You will have a final test that is accumulative of all the topics learned throughout the semester. You are responsible for the material and will be tested on your understanding of them.
This is not self-paced instruction. You should expect to spend about 8 hours every other week working on this course in addition to the lecture portion. Your success in this class depends on your willingness to dedicate the time necessary to complete the lab assignments.
It is important that you stay current, complete assignments in a timely manner, and visit the Canvas classroom often. Regular and active participation is an essential aspect of this course. Your full participation in this course will be necessary for you to be successful in this course.

You will be given Lab assignments and a Final Test to determine your understanding of the course material.

Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.

Veterans Resource Center
