COVID-19 POLICY

In order to protect everyone in attendance of COCMUN 2022, and regardless of current Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines, COCMUN 2022 will be requiring all delegates, advisors, and staffers in attendance to either submit a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72-hours of the conference start or provide proof they are fully vaccinated.

College of the Canyons defines “fully vaccinated” as a person who has received both doses of the vaccine (one for J&J)  and the booster shot (if eligible) at least two weeks prior to the current date.
Additionally, all delegates will be required to wear a mask that properly covers their entire nose and mouth, at all times while inside any college facilities regardless of vaccination status. If delegates do not have a mask upon arrival, COCMUN staff can provide one for them.

It is important to note that these policies are mandatory and there are no exceptions to any of the procedures above. If delegates arrive at the conference either without having submitted a negative test or vaccine card or either submissions are deemed invalid, they will be prohibited from entering any college facilities and participating within any COCMUN 2022 activities.

An invaild COVID-19 test is defined as one that has a positive result, is from an at-home testing kit, or was taken over 72-hours before the conference start. An invalid vaccine card is classified as one that does not include both initial doses, does not have a booster dose (if eligible), or has an initial second dose administered less than two weeks prior to the conference start.

Instructions and a submission portal for vaccine cards or negative tests will be posted on the COCMUN 2022 Conference Webpage within the coming weeks. All submissions will be due by 12:00 PM on Friday, May 6th before delegation check-in opens.

If attendees have any questions or concerns regarding COCMUN’s COVID-19 policies, they should immediately contact the Secretary-General to resolve any issues.

POSITION PAPERS

In order for delegates to be eligible for awards, they must submit a position paper to their respective chairs by Friday, April 29th at 11:59 PM. Position Papers are only required for delegates participating in the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council. Delegates participating in crisis are not required to submit a position paper. Guidelines for Position Papers can be found below and should be emailed to the committee’s chair with the delegates allocation and committee in the subject line. Chair emails can be found within the respective committees background guide at the conclusion of the chair letters.

Email Subject Line Examples:
“INTERPOL, United States Position Paper”
“UNSC, United States Position Paper”

Please ensure that the paper is submitted as a PDF well before the deadline. If delegates have any questions, they should contact their respective chairs for clarification.

HOTEL & TRAVEL

College of the Canyons has acquired discounted hotel rates at two local hotels for delegations to utilize, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, and the Hyatt Regency. Linked here, you can find the information on the rates and instructions on how to book these particular rates. It is imperative that while booking, delegations mention that they will be attending COCMUN 2022 and that they would like to use the College of the Canyons discounted rate. Please contact COCMUN’s Secretary-General with any issues you may run into.

Upon arrival at the College of the Canyons Campus all delegates, advisors, and staff in attendance of COCMUN 2022 are welcome to park anywhere in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center Parking Lot (Lot 14) and do not need any sort of parking pass for the conference.

Delegates may also make use of local rideshare services as the college has a designated drop-off and pick-up area for this directly in front of the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center where the conference will be located. College of the Canyons would like to note that we have no direct affiliation with any rideshare services and would like to encourage delegates to exercise appropriate caution if they should choose to utilize these services.
