At College of the Canyons, we have many staff and faculty dedicated to serve our Dreamers. Whether you are a DACA student, AB 540, Undocumented, Out of Status, we are here to help you succeed in College. We have built resources specifically to assist you in navigating the campus, our resources, and assistance in the community. This College is dedicated to ensuring each student has the resources needed to be successful.

Labels, Terminology, definitions to keep in mind

DACA:

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is a federal program that allows a person to be deferred from deportation and gives the person a work permit. Many students may be considered a California Resident if they are DACA. College of the Canyons is dedicated to assisting you start your education while on DACA.

Undocumented:

A person who is currently undocumented, or in the United States without a legal status, can attend classes at College of the Canyons. While some students may be required to pay nonresident fees, some my qualify for the AB 540 tuition exemption waiver, as listed above. Out of Status:

Students who have overstayed their Visa or their current status expired are considered Out of Status. Students who are out of status can attend College of the Canyons. While some students may be required to pay nonresident fees, some my qualify for the AB 540 tuition exemption waiver, as listed above. AB 540-Nonresident Tuition Exemption

AB 540, or Nonresident Tuition Exemption, allows a student to be waived from paying nonresident tuition if the student meets certain regulations. Please visit our AB 540 Reclassification website for more information.

The California Dream Application is a financial aid application provided by the state of California. Students on an AB 540 may be eligible for state financial Aid. Please visit the California Student Aid Commission website for more information.
