Introduction
Hello and welcome to my course! I am a California Licensed General B and C6 contractor. I hold a Master of Engineering Management in construction project management from the University of Alabama Birmingham. I am an OSHA-authorized instructor for 10- and 30-hour certs. I have a deep-rooted passion for construction technology and sharing it with others. I am here to support you and would like you to be successful in this course. Course Description
This course explores the fundamentals of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction. Topics include common practices in electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC.
What to Expect in this Course
This is a hands-on course that will require in-class participation. The first 45 minutes of this class will be a lecture/review of the assigned reading material from homework. Written tests will be given on a provided computer during class time. Hands-on performance tests will be observed during class live. Assignments will be turned in and graded through Canvas recommending access to a computer outside of class. The remainder of the class sessions will be hands-on practice with tools and materials. The purchase of a textbook with an online access code and safety equipment may be required to complete this course.

You will need the online access code with the book for testing. This book is used for several Construction Technology classes to distribute the cost.
Other Relevant Course Information
This is a fun hands-on course that will require the use of hand and power tools. For your safety, pants and boots will need to be worn as part of (personal protective equipment) PPE during the Lab and it is your responsibility to bring them. All other PPE items may be provided during class.

Management of Stress and Mental Health
Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore). At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.

Veterans Resource Center
