The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Program is approved by the California Department of Public Health/ Laboratory Field Services resulting in a Certificate of Achievement in Clinical Laboratory Science.
This program prepares students for employment in clinical laboratories, industry, and biotechnology. The CLS Training Program curriculum is an integration of classroom lectures and clinical training at a CDPH/LFS approved clinical training site, affiliated with College of the Canyons.
The CLS program fosters development of analytical and problem solving skills required in this profession. After successful completion of the program, students may sit for a CDPH/LFS approved CLS certification/board exam. There is an increasing demand for CLS in both hospitals and biotechnical labs, particularly labs that analyze human patient samples. A starting CLS yearly salary is approximately $70,000/year.
