Registration Open for Fall Classes
July 28, 2026 – Students can now register for fall classes. More than 1,890 class sections are available in academic, career education, transfer, and noncredit programs. The fall schedule includes in-person, online, and hybrid courses designed to help students earn degrees and certificates, prepare for careers, transfer to four-year universities, and complete general education requirements. The fall semester runs Aug. 24 through Dec. 12.
Procurement Team Earns National Award
Aug. 21, 2026 – The College of the Canyons Contracts, Procurement, and Risk Management Department has been honored with the 2026 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. The recognition places the college among 251 organizations nationwide to receive the award, which honors public agencies whose procurement practices reflect the highest standards of excellence. It's the sixth year in a row the department has won the award.
Bond Oversight Committee Members Sought
Aug. 11, 2026 – College of the Canyons is accepting applications from community members to serve on its Independent Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. The committee, whose members are appointed by the Board of Trustees, provides oversight to ensure that Measure E bond proceeds are expended only for the purposes authorized by law. Measure E is the $230 million general obligation bond passed by voters in 2016. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28.
Students Place Second in NASA Competition
Aug. 12, 2026 – A team of College of the Canyons students earned second place and a $25,000 prize at the 2026 NASA ORBIT Challenge at Space Center Houston on July 17. Students Sophia Cranshaw and Tatiana Torrecampo led the only community college team competing in the Space Track category. More than 100 teams from colleges and universities nationwide competed. The team designed a clinical decision-support system to help astronauts assess health risks during long-duration space missions.
Broad Foundation Donates $1.1 Million to ATC
July 6, 2026 – College of the Canyons has received a landmark $1.1 million donation from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation to support the Advanced Technology Center (ATC), a transformative initiative designed to train students for high-demand, high-tech fields and meet the workforce and economic development needs of Los Angeles County. The gift will support student enrollment growth and program development at the ATC, with a focus on advancing programs in advanced manufacturing, network technologies, and welding.
Axim Funding to Launch AI Initiative
July 8, 2026 – College of the Canyons has received $779,000 in funding from the Axim Collaborative to create the AI for Teaching and Learning Institute (AI4TL Institute). The six-month, cohort-based virtual program is designed to help community colleges and broad-access institutions address generative AI in teaching and learning. The initiative is designed to help educators move beyond isolated experimentation with AI and toward coherent, institution-wide strategies that support student success.
Performing Arts Center Announces New Season
The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons will welcome audiences for its 2026-27 Spotlight Series season, which features six nationally touring productions spanning doo-wop, classic rock, '90s hits, holiday music, Día de los Muertos festivities, and high-flying canine performers.
Advanced Technology Center Taking Shape
The planned Advanced Technology Center will be equipped with the technology to teach laser welding, robotics, mechatronics, metrology, welding, and CNC machining. Architectural plans are on track for state approval this spring, setting the stage to begin construction later this year.
New Healthcare Program Debuts this Fall
Scheduled to launch this fall, the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program will prepare students to become skilled healthcare professionals who work under occupational therapists to provide hands-on support and intervention. The program requires four semesters to complete.
