  Canyons Cares Lead

  Joanna started working at College of the Canyons in July 2016 as the Student Services Coordinator for the Office of Campus Life and Student Engagement. She has had the pleasure of managing the department office at the Canyon Country Campus as well as working as an advisor for the Associated Student Government (ASG). She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and earned her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California-Riverside. Immediately after, she earned her Masters of Social Work degree in Community, Organization, Planning and Administration from the University of California. She is a proud Classified staff member and feels lucky to help build on the success of this group. In her spare time, she loves to hike, spend time with friends and family and travel to new places!

• Carlos Chavez

   

  Carlos Chavez

  Carlos started working at College of the Canyons in October of 2014 as an Outreach Peer Advisor. There he introduced new students to the campus and gave campus tours. He transferred over to the Counseling Department as a Program Advisor helping students fulfill their general education requirements and getting them ready for graduation and or transfers. In 2018 he became a full-time classified member and is currently working in the Campus Safety Department. 

  Carlos is a local. He was born and raised in Santa Clarita. After his 1st year of college he enlisted in the Marine Corps and after 8 glorious years he was honorably discharged. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Physical Education and is currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree. On his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities and hanging out with friends and family.

  Cindy Trudeau

  Cyndi started working at College of the Canyons on January 3, 2022, as a classified confidential supporting Dr. Omar Torres, Assistant Superintendent and Vice President of Instruction. Since her start date, Cyndi has actively committed herself to be part of Meet and Confer Confidential Classified Group, has completed the LEAP Program (Leadership Education in Action Program) to effectively engage on the subject of transformational change at College of the Canyons, and will serve as a backup to the Academic Senate meetings for the 22/23 school year. Cyndi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from the Master’s University and has worked in K-12 school setting. She is proud and grateful to work for College of the Canyons, where she can continue to use her administration skills and talents to help benefit the college community. Cyndi joined Canyons Cares in July 2022 to continue building classified connections and student involvement, and help create a positive experience for all on our campus. On her spare time, Cyndi enjoys spending time with her family and friends, she loves food and coffee, exercising, hiking, or simply just relaxing at the beach!

• Connie Palazzolo

   

  

  Connie Palazzolo

  Connie began her career with COC in 2016 as an adult hourly technician in the Nursing Department where she was able to help students navigate the application process.  She then worked for 5 years as ISA Coordinator, assisting Public Safety Agencies with their continuing education courses. She now serves in the Office of Instruction as Director, Enrollment Support, assisting Deans and Department Chairs with their course schedules. 

  Connie is originally from a small town in Ohio, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications from The Ohio State University.  She is so happy to be a part of Canyons Cares and believes strongly in the group’s student focused attention on bridging the gap between students and staff, and promoting overall wellness.

  Hilary Skoch

  I have been a COC Nursing faculty member since 2016 and was recently promoted to Full-Time Faculty in 2020.  A cool fact is I graduated the nursing program at COC in 2009!  I have been a Registered Nurse for 12 years working in the Emergency Department.  I earned my master’s degree in Nursing Education through Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.  I enjoy teaching clinical rotations for first, second, third semester nursing students, lecture and clinical for CNA students, psychiatric clinical rotations for 2nd semester, and teaching 4th semester Success course. Although I am a new member in the Canyons Cares Team, I have already found it is the priority of the group to promote student success, wellness, and connection.  I am looking forward to the future

  Justin Bradshaw

  Justin is a graduate of Saugus High School and a former College of the Canyons student. For almost 10 years, he has worked as a custodian in the Facilities Department. He is excited to be a part of Canyons Cares and is looking forward to making a positive impact on students’ college experience. In his free time, Justin loves fishing, wine tasting and helping people.

  Lisette Godinez

  Lisette is a proud College of the Canyons alumni, earning two degrees from COC in 2018. She immediately began her Bachelor’s program through the University Center. She graduated from the University of La Verne in Business Administration in 2020. Lisette has served as clerical support and later as an Administrative Assistant for the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2015. She lives in Santa Clarita, enjoys spending her time with family, hiking, crafting, baking, and reading.

  Loida Sanchez

  Loida has been an Outreach Representative at COC since 2015.  She started at COC in 2008 in the Career Center as a college intern.  She enjoyed helping students and working for COC so much that she decided to stay, and hopes to one day retire from here.

  She is an alumnus of the California State University, Northridge, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  She lives in the valley “The Real Valley - The San Fernando Valley” with her two beautiful boys and her amazing parents.  She loves life and enjoys living it up!  Traveling, hiking, swimming and spending time with her family and friends are her favorite things to do.  She believes in kindness, love and happiness, and in always making positive impacts, creating great memories and building beautiful friendships.

• Michael Monsour

  

  Michael Monsour

  I joined College of the Canyons in 2014 as the Assessment Center Coordinator. Having grown up in Northern California, I am still learning my way around Southern California. I earned by Bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis, and worked at the UCD Center for Mind and Brain in Child Development research prior to attending graduate school for Clinical Psychology. I earned a Masters degree in psychology, and then took a position at the College of Marin before joining COC. I am happy to help represent COC Classified Professionals on the Senate. I serve on the COVID-19 Task Force (2020-22), The College Policy Council, The Budget Task Force (2020), The Return To Campus Coalition, Union Negotiation Team (2021), and the The IE2 Design Team. • Sarah Ramos

   

  Sarah Ramos

  Sarah has been an Academic Advisor at COC since 2017. She works at the Canyon Country Campus. She started at COC in 2015 as a part time Career Coach in the Outreach Department. She was also the Program Coordinator for the Trio Upward Bound Program from 2016-2017. 

  She is an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and received her Master’s in Social Work from Humboldt State University. She lives in Newhall with her family and enjoys spending time with her two little sisters and three dogs. She enjoys traveling to northern California and around the globe, when possible.
