Nicole Brooks ’24
Nicole Brooks, a UK transplant, recently graduated with two Associate degrees and a 4.0 GPA. She is a local business owner, co-owning the County Antique Fair Mall, which proudly celebrates its 45th year in business this year. Her entrepreneurial spirit is matched by her commitment to community service, as she volunteers for Golden Z, the COC arm of Zonta International, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting women from violence. Nicole has also spearheaded the launch of the “Cougar Closet”, a free clothing exchange for students on campus. Nicole’s passion for philanthropy is evident in her fundraising efforts, having raised over $50,000 for the Southeast Community Foundation where she currently serves as a board member.
Dayna Storaker ’22
Received degrees in Physics, Biology, and Liberal Arts with an Emphasis on Math and Science. At COC, she was an assistant soccer coach, and member of MESA! She has since transferred to UCLA, where she is studying environmental science and is the head coach for the Women’s Club Soccer Team!
Jose Cruz ’25
Graduated this summer with two associate degrees in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer Studies and Liberal Arts and Sciences. A non-traditional student and cancer-survivor, Jose is no stranger to barriers – but came to COC with the goal of continuing his education and making a difference as a future elementary school teacher.
Marina Nasr ’25
Graduated with an associate’s degree in Biology. She transferred to UCLA, where she is on the premed track towards becoming a Dentist!
Mary MacAdam ’21
Earned her associate degree in psychology, and went on to Ottawa University to pursue a bachelor’s in social work. Last month, she graduated from USC with a master’s degree in Public Administration. She currently works as the Homeless Services Program Manager for Clinica Romero, a Healthcare Clinic in Los Angeles.
Mary is also a Canyons Promise recipient; the program provides the financial support, high-touch academic/counseling contact, and peer collaboration proven to increase student success.
