Datatel Budget Monitoring Workshop

At this session, participants will learn how to manage their department's budget in Datatel, and stay on track throughout the year. You will be shown different functions and reports in Datatel that you can use to track expenses, monitor remaining budget and look up expense history. This workshop will also provide you the opportunity to ask questions on best practices, tips for monitoring your budget and let you know when and how you should submit a budget transfer. This course is designed to help you monitor your budget and make your program more successful.

Datatel Requisitions Processing Workshop

This workshop is a must for all individuals who enter purchase requisitions in Datatel. Whether you have attended a class in the past or have been entering purchase requisitions for years, we encourage ALL initiators to attend this updated workshop. The workshop is designed to teahc and refresh initiators to enter and track purchase requisitions in Datatel Web UI 4.5 from beginning to end. This workshop will also provide the initiator with helpful tips on how you can help provide a smooth transition from requisition to purchase order in a timely manner. In addition, there will be a brief tutorial on simple financial inquiries and reports. Helpful handouts will be provided.

Beginning Microsoft Excel (3-part series)

Classroom Technology Series

Introduction to Online Instruction

June 3rd  through Saturday, July 6th

100% Online

The course should appeal to anyone interested in utilizing an online learning management system, such as Canvas, in order to web-enhance an on-ground class, teach a hybrid online class, or teach a 100% online class. The 100% online course will run from June 3rd through July 6th and will be taught by Tammy Mahan (Psychology Professor).

Pre-Requisite: Participants must have completed Canvas Communication / Assessment & Organization/Content workshops (4 hours), or the Canvas Self-Paced Online training (4 hours) PRIOR to May 27, 2019 in order to participate in this course.

Introduction to Online Instruction will explore the application of learning theories for online learners; differences between face-to-face and online learning; resources for online teaching and learning; course management systems and online learning tools; and best practices for online learning. The class is designed so that participants will experience the components of an online course from both student and instructor perspectives.

This five-week, 100% online class will be taught via COC's Learning Management System, Canvas. This course fulfills one of the required components of the College of the Canyons Online Instructor Certificate. Full-time faculty can accrue FLEX credit up to the number of hours the class meets (2 units = 36 hours, e.g.) OR apply 2 units toward salary advancement (see COCFA contract). Adjunct faculty can receive FLEX credit as well, though not to exceed the limit per semester as outlined in the adjunct faculty contract.
