Seemiller to Speak About Generation Z

Much has been said, studied, and stereotyped about the Millennial generation, but what of Generation Z, those born in the early 1990s to mid 2000s? According to Forbes, Generation Z made up 25 percent if the U.S. population in 2015, which makes the cohort larger than the Millennial and Baby Boomer generations.

On Thursday, March 21, Dr. Corey Seemiller presents “Who is Generation Z?: Determined. Open-Minded. Compassionate,” at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. The free presentation will explain the characteristics, motivations, values and preferences of society’s latest demographic to come of age.

“Dr. Seemiller’s presentation will shed some light on this new group of young people that is passionate about discovering solutions to our local, national, and global problems,” said Patty Robinson, faculty director of civic and community engagement initiatives at the college. “They represent a generation concerned with equity, civility, and mutual respect.”

Seemiller’s presentation “Who is Generation Z?: Determined. Open-Minded. Compassionate” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available for the duration of the event.

On Friday, March 22, Seemiller will also lead a free interactive workshop for those who wish to learn how to engage with Generation Z at home, school or in the workplace from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Mentry Hall, Room 343.
