    NOTICE: September 29, 2023

Please be advised that an upcoming labor strike may affect service to and from campus if you ride a Santa Clarita Transit bus.

Drivers who work for MV Transportation, the contracted bus operator for Santa Clarita Transit, recently authorized a strike, which could begin as soon as Monday, Oct. 2.

This decision has arisen from a labor contract dispute between the bus driver union and MV Transportation. Please note that neither the City of Santa Clarita nor College of the Canyons is directly involved in these negotiations, so we do not have access to detailed information regarding the specific issues under contention.

As a result of the strike, Santa Clarita Transit anticipates the suspension of most of its services, including several routes commonly used by COC students to reach the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses.

While we hope the matter is resolved promptly and without interruption to bus service, we strongly recommend that you find alternative transportation so you can travel to and from campus without significant disruption.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this challenging period. The college hopes that both parties will engage in productive negotiations to limit disruptions and inconvenience for everyone who relies on Santa Clarita Transit for transportation in our community.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
