Support Undocumented and DACA Students
Undocumented students and immigrants are a part of our community and have so much to contribute to our college. We all benefit when they can adjust their immigration status and access educational and employment opportunities.
With that in mind, we are asking you to take action to support DACA and H.R. 6. As you may know, DACA is a short-term solution that may provide relief from deportation and enable participants the opportunity to work. H.R. 6 represents a long-term solution that would provide an actual pathway for residency for undocumented students.
We hope you can join us as we stand in solidarity with our undocumented community.
Background on DACA
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is an executive order and immigration policy which allows certain undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children to currently receive a one-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit in the U.S.
Background H.R. 6
The American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (H.R. 6) is the only bill that provides a pathway for residency and citizenship for undocumented students and adults. It passed the House in June 2019 and is currently waiting for a Senate vote and approval.
