Gabriela Muniz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience
in the field. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of settings including
school-based, community mental health, government agencies and detention facilities. Professor
Muniz holds a Master's degree in Social Work from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's
degree in Behavioral Sciences and Criminal Justice from California State Polytechnic
University, Pomona.
As a forensic social worker, Gabriela has worked on capital cases, working closely with attorneys on mitigation investigations and pretrial preparation. She is presently on the juvenile expert panel for the Los Angeles County Superior Court. In 2020, Gabriela established a private practice, where she offers individualized treatment to BIPOC first-generation students and professionals.
Her professional interests include criminology, restorative justice, community violence, equity and diversity in the work place and social justice. Her personal interests include traveling and visiting waterfalls.
