Gary Garcia is an alumni of College of the Canyons who graduated with his A.A. in Social Science. He then attended CSU Channel Islands and obtained his B.A. in Sociology. While at Channel Islands, he worked with the Ventura County Homeless and Housing Coalition to develop a comprehensive survey on resources for the homeless. Gary became a member of the inaugural class of Alpha Kappa Delta, the sociological honor society, at CSU Channel Islands and graduated cum laude. Professor Garcia also had the opportunity to work as an enumerator for the 2010 Census conducting follow up interviews with local residents. His interests include applied sociology, social problems, and social movements.
Most recently, Gary earned his M.A. degree in Sociology from CSU Northridge. He has a variety of professional experience including 7 years of experience as a College of the Canyons employee at both the library and America’s Job Center of California (formerly WorkSource Center) on campus. A resident of Long Beach, California, Gary enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife Ashley and baby boy Darien, who was born in February 2016.
