Gina Peterson has been an adjunct instructor at College of the Canyons in the Early Childhood Education
Department since 2012. Besides being an instructor, Gina is the TEACH Teacher Preparation
Program Coordinator and works closely with students who want to become future teachers,
she is also an advisor for the Future Educators Club. Before joining the COC family, she worked in the ECE field for over 25 years as a
Center Director, Afterschool Counselor, Preschool Teacher, facilitator and trainer.
Gina has a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in ECE from
CSU, Northridge, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of La Verne in Child
Development. Gina considers herself to be a life-long learner. She would like to
one day go back to school and formally earn her doctorate degree.
Gina enjoys traveling, hiking and camping with her family, and she believes that there
is much to learn from each experience and every interaction. She has traveled to
some interesting destinations like Kenya, Morocco, Jerusalem, and Italy, and hopes
to visit all 50 of the United States. Gina is the proud grandmother of 2 beautiful
girls who are currently enrolled at the COC Child Development Center. Gina believes
that “All things are possible…so why not dream BIG!”
