Day of Commencement Information

 

Arrival Instructions

GRAD WALK CEREMONY (Thursday, June 2, 2022):

  • For graduates/guests participating in the Grad Walk:
    • Graduates should arrive dressed in their cap & gown.
    • Graduates and their guests must arrive together on time and no sooner than 15 minutes prior to their designated timeslot on Thursday, June 2, 2022.
    • Graduates and guests may only participate in the Grad Walk during their reserved timeslot.
    • Graduates and guests must check-in at one of the stations located between Canyons Hall and the Student Center.
    • Reservations are required for entry into the Grad Walk.

TRADITIONAL GRADUATION CEREMONY (Friday, June 3, 2022):

  • For graduates/guests participating in the traditional graduation ceremony:
  • Graduate Arrival Information:
    • Graduates must arrive at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 dressed in their cap and gown.
      • If you do not arrive on time, you will NOT be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
      • Because of the hectic nature of the assembly time, family and friends will NOT be allowed in the area; therefore, please ask them to refrain from being in the assembly area at this time.
      • Graduate Check-In Location: Graduates must arrive and check-in at one of the stations located on the walkway between the tennis courts and the East PE & West PE buildings.
      • Reservations are required for entry into the graduation ceremony.
  • There is not a rehearsal for the traditional graduation ceremony.
  • Everyone will march directly to the Commencement exercises in a formal processional.  It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes for walking.
  • Please make arrangements to leave all valuables (purses, cameras, etc.) with friends or family.
  • There will be no assigned seating within the graduate seating sections.
  • Graduates will be expected to stay for the entire ceremony until dismissed.

  • Guest Arrival Information:
    • Guest Check-In Location: Guests must check-in at one of the stations located between Canyons Hall and the Student Center.
    • Reservations are required for entry into the graduation ceremony.
    • Guests will be seated separately from the graduates and will be escorted to their seats by staff.
    • Seating will be available on a first-come-first serve basis and may NOT be reserved.  No guests will be permitted in the graduate seating area at any time.

Covid-19 Protocol:
Graduates and guests should not attend graduation if they are feeling ill, have symptoms of Covid-19 or have potentially been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected Covid-19.

Graduate’s Behavior
Graduation is a dignified occasion.  Participants are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.  The behavior of each graduate helps to set the tone for this important event.

Photography
Photographers from GradImages will be present to take pictures of the graduates as they accept their diplomas on stage.  Photo proofs will be emailed directly to each graduate. Additional photo opportunities will be available after the graduation ceremonies for guests and graduates to take pictures.

Use of Cameras and Video Equipment

  • Grad Walk Ceremony:
    For safety and security reasons, guests will only be allowed access to the stage area during the Grad Walk.
  • Traditional Graduation Ceremony:
    Access to the stage and guest seating area will not be permitted during the traditional graduation ceremony.  The rules set forth by the Fire Marshall do not allow anyone to stand in or block the aisles.  Also, out of consideration of the other guests, you are asked to remain seated to avoid blocking the view of others.  The College’s security personnel will escort any person doing so away from the area.  There will be official photo opportunities available after the graduation ceremonies for guests and graduates to take pictures.

Parking

  • Grad Walk Ceremony Parking:
    • For graduates/guests participating in the Grad Walk on Thursday, June 2, 2022, free parking will be available in student parking lots 4-6.
    • Students and/or guests found parking in any staff lots may be ticketed by campus safety.
    • Please note that other graduations may be taking place on the campus during this time, so please allow extra time to find a parking spot.
  • Traditional Graduation Ceremony Parking:
    • For graduates/guests participating in the traditional graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 3, 2022, free parking will be available student parking lots 4, 5, 6, and 8.
    • Students and/or guests found parking in any staff lots may be ticked by campus safety.  Traffic may be heavy, therefore please plan to arrive early.

Diplomas
Diplomas are NOT issued during the graduation ceremonies.  Diplomas for spring and summer graduates will be automatically mailed to you from the Admissions and Records Office.
