Alex | My name is Alex and I am an accounting major at College of Canyons. I've been in the United States Marine Corps since 2011, and my goal is to transfer to UCLA in the Fall of 2018. I enjoy my job as an Outreach Peer Advisor immensely, because I get to interact and network with a very diverse group of individuals. I feel lucky to have found this job because it has allowed me to meet some lifelong friends and it has provided me with many valuable learning opportunities and experiences.

"Hello! My name is Bashir and I am a Peer Advisor and student at College of the Canyons. I am a biology major and my goal is to transfer to the University of California in Los Angeles with an emphasis in immunology. I am blessed to be a Peer Advisor at College of the Canyons because I have the opportunity to interact with the diverse community of students that we have on campus. It humbles me to be able to help students thrive and to thrive with them and it brings me happiness to see them smiling as they are one step closer to achieving their dreams. College of the Canyons has provided me with many resources and opportunities that drew me closer to my dreams." |

"My name is Breezy and I am an Outreach Representative here at College of the Canyons. I will graduate from COCs incredible nursing program in fall 2019 and continue my nursing education by beginning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program shortly after graduation. I treasure my job in Outreach because alongside refining my intercommunication skills, I often have the joy of being the first impression new students have of the college. My experience as a COC student continues to be a tremendous blessing that has exceeded my hopes, dreams, and expectations with the passionate faculty who have a genuine desire to aid in student success, and the incredible people I have formed friendships with in my time here. Enriching my life and college experience, I remain friends with my teammates from Speech Team, friends from MyGenMyFight, and friends from the nursing program. I highly encourage any student to get involved on campus and make connections with people as they pursue their goals in higher education."

Once I graduate from COC with my AA-T, I plan to further my education at CSUN, where I will obtain my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development. I enjoy working as an Outreach Peer Advisor because it has allowed me to meet a variety of people and help those who I encounter. My experience at COC thus far has been outstanding because the faculty has a strong desire to see their students succeed. This has been continuously shown through the COC staff, which has led me to be a student proud to say I attend COC!" |

I plan on transferring to National University, which is located at the University Center, for my BSN. I enjoy this job because I am surrounded by positive people and this job allows me to connect with different people, learn new things, and pass on information I have learned from my peers."

"Hi my name is Jose. I'm a biology major. I want to transfer to a UC, preferably UCLA. I enjoy being an Outreach Peer Advisor because I get to help students in the early steps of their college experience. This is important to me because I wish someone would have helped or guided me when I was first starting my college experience. College of the Canyons is an excellent campus and the staff are very supportive with any question a student may have, and are there and ready to help. That's what makes College of the Canyons such an outstanding school and the reason I attend this college."

"My name is Kathy and I am a Psychology major. I am hoping to transfer to one of the following private institutions: Loyola Marymount, USC, or Chapman University beginning Fall 2017. As an Outreach Peer Advisor I get an inside look of what College of the Canyons has to offer, and I relay the information to help other students. Additionally, I have the opportunity to work with amazing faculty, staff, and students. Aside from being an OPA, I am involved in the Associated Student Government. Last year I was the Social Student Involvement Coordinator, and presently, I am the Vice President of Activities. Both positions enable me to compose various events to enliven campus life. With all this, I can definitely say I am proud to be a COC student!"

"My name is Sarah and I'm majoring in Jazz Performance with voice as my main instrument, working toward an AA/T degree. A big part of my involvement in the music department is singing and going to festivals with the jazz choir, Just Jazz. I like being a Peer Advisor because I'm able to help people who are either new to the school or just unsure about where they're going. My favorite things about COC are the diversity of the student body and all the different opportunities for classes, programs, clubs, activities, etc." |

"My name is Tessa and I am a sociology major at COC. I enjoy working as an Outreach Peer Advisor because I get to meet new people every day. Becoming an OPA has also helped me discover my passion for helping fellow students and community members become more familiar with COC and everything it has to offer. Attending COC has been a blessing for me as it has allowed me to realize my full academic potential, as well as discover my passion for sociology, social justice, and education. I love COC because the faculty is so helpful and there are so many resources available to students. I could not imagine starting my academic career anywhere else!"
