In-Person and Online

We offer both in-person and online workshops with experienced tutors and instructors who can help you make the most of your study sessions or test reviews.

All TLC services require your COC ID Number.

 

Workshop Information

Start Online Workshop

    • Pop-Up Workshops are informal, interactive workshops that let you practice important study and writing skills. Students can drop in and out at any time during the workshop. Improve your skills, get immediate feedback, and meet new people!
    • Formal Lab Report Workshops help science students craft their lab report assignments. Students work on scientific language and lab report structure. When attending a Formal Lab Report workshop, plan to be there the entire time. Bring your draft with you so we can work hands-on!
    • Public Speaking Workshops help students overcome anxiety and improve their public speaking skills. When attending a Public Speaking workshop, plan to be there the entire time.
    • ESL Open Labs provide the opportunity to practice speaking, reading, and writing in English. Students can ask tutors questions about their assignments and practice having conversations in English. The lab is open, which mean students can drop in and drop out at any time during the lab.
    • Test Review Jams: Tutor led workshops designed to review important subject material before upcoming exams and quizzes.
    • Revision Jams present a variety of revision activities and allow you to work on your assignments during the jam. Revision Jams can help with any writing assignment for any class andprovide students with many opportunities to enhance their writing. When attending a Revision Jam, arrive 10-15 minutes early and plan to be there the entire time. Bring your writing with you so we can work hands-on!
    • *NEW* ASL Study Jams provide ASL students the opportunity to practice ASL with a seasoned ASL tutor. Students may come in and out at any time during the study jams.
    • Arrive at TLC ten minutes before the workshop begins.
    • Please have your Student ID number, class title, and professor's name ready.
    • Check-in at TLC's front registration desk and let the receptionist know you are here for a workshop.
    • If completing a workshop for multiple classes, please notify the receptionist as you sign in.
    • Instructors will receive attendance reports each Monday.
    • Sign onto Zoom ten minutes before the workshop begins.
    • Please have your Student ID number, class title, and professor's name ready.
    • Instructors will receive attendance reports each Monday.
    • If you find yourself in a waiting room, it means that the TLC host is currently assisting another student. They will let you in to our lobby as soon as they can. Thank you for your patience!

  • For In-Person TLC Workshops:

    • Email TLC Director, Mojdeh Mahn, with your request to provide workshops in TLC and include all of your proposed workshop dates and times
    • Copy TLC Instructional Coordinator, Sharon Johnston, so she can prepare your supplementary services payment request form
    • Reserve your room in TLC using the TAMIS system as follows:
      1. To make a room reservation in TLC (TLC-144, -158, -160 and -161), open the link to TAMIS Room Reservations
      2. You can use the Calendar to view available rooms and times (you can use the drop-down view to see individual rooms or all rooms at once)
      3. Once you have found an available room and time, please click on the Conference/Training Room Request link
      4. Fill out the form will all the required information
      5. If for some reason TAMIS is not able to fulfill your request, you will receive an email with the option to find an alternative
    • Have students arrive at TLC ten minutes before the workshop begins
    • Have students check in at TLC's front registration desk and let the receptionist know they are here for a workshop
    • Remind students to have their Student ID number, class title, and professor's name ready


    For Online Zoom Workshops

    • Email TLC Director, Mojdeh Mahn, with your request to provide workshops in TLC and include all of your proposed workshop dates and times
    • Copy TLC Instructional Coordinator, Sharon Johnston, so she can prepare your supplementary services payment request form
    • Use the TLC Zoom Link to conduct your online workshops (also you can click the green button on this page that says "Start Online Workshop")
      • Have students sign onto Zoom ten minutes before the workshop begins
      • Remind students to have their Student ID number, class title, and professor's name ready

    NOTE:  All workshops must take place during TLC Hours either in-person or online via the TLC Zoom Link
