President: Michael Monsour

I joined College of the Canyons in 2014 as the Assessment Center Coordinator. Having grown up in Northern California, I am still learning my way around Southern California. I earned by Bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis, and worked at the UCD Center for Mind and Brain in Child Development research prior to attending graduate school for Clinical Psychology. I earned a Masters degree in psychology, and then took a position at the College of Marin before joining COC. I am happy to help represent COC Classified staff on the Classified Senate. I serve on the Covid-19 Task Force (2020/21), The College Policy Council, The Budget Task Force (2020), The Return To Campus Coalition, and the The IE2 Design Team. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Treasurer: Dr. Vida Manzo

I joined College of the Canyons in 2018 as a Senior Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness. I grew up in the Central Valley and earned a B.A.  from the University of California, Berkeley. I moved to Illinois to pursue a Doctoral degree in Experimental Social Psychology at Northwestern University. My research and published work primarily consisted of how students can harness facets of their identity to incite academic motivation. While I miss Lake Michigan, I can’t say I miss the snow. Aside from my role within Institutional Research I am a member of the Equity Minded Practitioner’s Workgroup and I am a Coordinator for COC’s Latinx Alliance. I am happy to help represent Classified staff as Treasurer for Classified Senate.

Senator: Ashley Murphy

I joined College of the Canyons full time in February of 2018 as Administrative Assistant for the School of Visual and Performing Arts. I earned my Bachelor of the Arts degree in Cinema and Television Arts from Cal State University of Northridge, and am an Academy of the Canyons and College of the Canyons Alumni. Before joining the Classified Staff, I freelanced in production work for various Performing Arts Venues and Television Productions in the Los Angeles County, including our Performing Arts Center on the Valencia Campus. I have enjoyed learning from and working alongside industry professionals as well as our students, faculty, staff and administrators over the last decade, and now I am excited to be a part of Classified Senate to help represent our classified voices.

I look forward to continue working alongside this e-board, should I be re-elected, and I hope to contribute over the next term in any way I can. And if there is a stronger candidate elected, I’d still be willing to help edit classified corner videos (or any event planning/busy work that helps the senate)!

I grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and have lived here all of my life. Prior to working at College of the Canyons I worked for 8 years in the private sector. I then joined the College of the Canyons team in the spring of 2007 working in the Cooperative Work Experience & Education (CWEE) Department. I worked for the CWEE department for 5 years. I was then offered a new position working as an Office Coordinator for the Santa Clarita America’s Job Center located in the College of the Canyons University Center in 2012 where I worked for another 5 years. I then switched roles when I was hired as the new Administrative Assistant to the office of Academic Senate in 2017. It was around this time that I completed my Master in Public Administration (MPA). In this role I enjoy working directly with faculty, administrators and staff. I also have an opportunity to provide administrative support to the Academic Senate body including, various Academic Senate sub–committees which includes Career Education, Program Viability, Senate Executive and serve as Classified Tri-Chair for the Dreamers Together Taskforce. Lastly, I am know excited to represent classified staff as the Secretary for Classified Senate.
