Vice President's Message

Welcome to College of the Canyons’ Canyon Country Campus. The 2019-20 academic year marks the twelfth anniversary of this impactful campus facility. Opened in August 2007, the Canyon Country Campus (CCC) is situated on a 70-acre hillside high-desert property at 17200 Sierra Highway, 9.8 miles east of the District’s Valencia Campus. The mission of the campus is to provide access to quality instructional programs, supportive student services, and meaningful community partnerships in the Santa Clarita Community College District's sizeable service area.

CCC is a comprehensive campus, providing a full array of services befitting a site that is larger than several small college districts in California. Since 2007, more than 62,000 different students have earned course credit here and more than 7,000 classes have been offered on-site. The campus has expanded access to higher education in the Santa Clarita Valley with approximately eighteen associate degree offerings and thirteen certificate programs that can be completed on site. In addition, the 2019/20 year includes new Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) pathways in 11 high-demand programs, most of which are offered in an accelerated format. Additional information is availabe on the class schedules page. The campus also regularly offers more than 100 classes each semester in high-demand evening, weekend, hybrid, or accelerated formats. Campus enrollment is typically more than 4,000 students per semester, with an average of 170 faculty teaching more than 270 total classes in 40 disciplines each semester.

Campus facilities currently feature 39 smart classrooms, which includes 11 computer and applied lab spaces along with a 15,000 sq. ft. Applied Technology Education Center. The campus houses many programs and services, including a library, tutoring center, early childhood education, student study lounge, and many student support services such as counseling, financial aid, admissions and records, student business office, student health center, testing center, and food services. It is remarkable how many programs and services are offered in predominantly modular spaces on this campus and it demonstrates the current and future need for growth of this campus.

The District continues to move forward with construction projects and facilities planning. A state-of-the-art 55,000 sq. ft. Science Building is currently under construction at CCC, and will feature much-needed science laboratory and classroom space. The Educational and Facilities Master Plan for the District includes substantial plans for programmatic, facilities, technology, and staffing improvements at the Canyon Country Campus, such as a Student Services and Learning Resources Building, an Arts Building, and a Student Commons and Lecture building. We look forward to the development of permanent classrooms and laboratories at CCC.

Students who attend classes at CCC enjoy quality instruction, supportive and personalized student services, and an easy to navigate facility. Approximately 2,000 students and more than 100 instructors attend CCC exclusively each semester. Students on campus also benefit from customized and accelerated pathways for academic completion, with courses provided in a wide variety of formats to serve student and community needs. Within the context of guided pathways planning, the Canyon Country Campus will emphasize associate degree and certificate pathways that can be completed on-site, as well as increased accelerated class offerings to serve the needs of working, part-time, and evening students as well as those seeking accelerated completion.

The Canyon Country Campus has a long tradition of hosting popular community events, such as the biannual Star Parties, Garden Walks, Movie Nights, Community Mixers, Music/Band concerts, ASG student life events, and a variety of other opportunities to showcase campus offerings and serve the community.

Whether you are a student, an instructor, a staff member, or a community member, the Canyon Country Campus offers an array of services to foster learning and innovation.
