Vice President's Message

Welcome to the Canyon Country Campus—an important part of how College of the Canyons (COC) serves students and the community. Opened in August 2007, the Canyon Country Campus (CCC) is celebrating its Fifteenth Anniversary in Fall 2022 and throughout the 2022/23 academic year. The campus is strategically located 9.8 miles east of COC’s Valencia Campus on a 70-acre hillside high-desert property at 17200 Sierra Highway, where it has expanded access and opportunity in the sizeable Santa Clarita Valley area. The mission of the campus is to provide access to quality instructional programs, supportive student services, and meaningful community partnerships and it has done just that!

CCC is a comprehensive campus, providing a wide variety of instructional and student support services based on student and community interest. The scale of what the campus offers mirrors that of a several small college districts in California, resulting from thoughtful planning and intentional resourcing by COC to ensure that the campus is impactful. The campus offers quality instruction and support services to help students achieve their academic goals, and in the last fifteen years more than 67,600 students have earned course credit here and more than 7,700 classes have been offered on-site.

The campus provides high-quality in-person instruction. With multiple associate degree and certificate programs that can be completed on site, there are many ways for students to learn and succeed at the Canyon Country Campus. CCC-specific academic “pathways” in high-demand programs are listed online under “Classes” along with a complete campus instructional schedule. CCC also offers a wide variety of class formats, with traditional 16-week classes, accelerated 8-week and 5-week classes, as well as evening, weekend, and/or hybrid formats. CCC provides quality instruction and supportive, personalized student services in an easy-to-navigate facility. Guided pathways priorities, such as the program mapper tool, ensure that students benefit from customized and accelerated pathways for academic completion, with courses in a wide variety of formats to serve student and community needs

Campus facilities include new state-of-the-art classrooms. The campus has approximately 60 smart classrooms, which consist of science laboratories, computer labs, large lecture, and traditional classrooms. The Takeda Science Center is fully online with 55,000 sq. ft. of modern instructional space featuring science labs, classrooms, and student study spaces designed to serve a variety of high-demand STEM, transfer, and other academic programs. A 15,000 sq. ft. Applied Technology Education Center also offers instruction in career technical education programs such as Automotive, Construction, and Water Technologies. A new 55,000 sq. ft. Student Services & Learning Resources Center opened this year and adds classrooms, tutoring and library space, student support resources, and department services. The Canyon Country Campus has wrap-around support services including counseling, financial aid, admissions and records, student business office, student health, veterans, library, a tutoring center, student study lounge, and many other support services. Additional classrooms and services spaces are also planned in the future in addition to this impressive complement.

The Canyon Country Campus regularly hosts popular community events, including a vibrant "Science Talks" series that includes biannual community Star Parties, Garden Walks, and engaging programing in a variety of STEM science disciplines from expert faculty, staff, and external speakers. Campus life and engagement is also supported by creative ASG student officers who schedule thoughtful student programming. The campus is proud to be used as a laboratory for innovation, showcasing campus offerings that serve the community. The Fifteenth Anniversary also provides an opportunity to both celebrate and engage, with a variety of special events planned.
