We have moved the event from the honor grove to multiple indoor campus buildings, follow signage. 

Join us to:

  • Receive personalized help with applying and registering
  • Talk with faculty and meet fellow new students
  • Explore the majors offered
  • Learn about campus life and student support programs & resources
  • Take a tour of our campus
  • Prepare yourself for the first day of classes
  • Attend your choice of workshop - offered starting at 10:00am, 10:30am, 11:00am, and 11:30am
  •  Explore our lineup of Workshops and Open Labs! While Workshops offer structured learning sessions beginning at set times, Open Labs adopt a more flexible, open house style. 

    • Learn how to prepare for your first day/week at College of the Canyons, identify classroom expectations, and discover college resources. If you are new to the college experience or may need a refresher about navigating the college environment, this workshop is for you! Counselors will provide the necessary tools to empower you to be in the driver’s seat of your education.

    • Are you feeling overwhelmed about selecting your college major or are you unsure of your career plans? Find out how to choose the right major and connect it to the career pathway of your dreams! COC Career Counselors will introduce you to the 5 steps of the career exploration process as well as our Program Mapper tool.

    • This workshop will highlight the various careers one can pursue with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

    • This workshop will provide information on the requirements and the benefits of the COC Honors Program. Why should you consider this program? We will talk about the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) for students interested in transferring to UCLA, in a major within the College.

    • Considering a career in the legal profession? Come learn about the Pathway to Law School Program (PLS) where we will share information about program benefits, support services, partner law schools, and how to earn your California Law Pathways Certificate of Completion!

    • This workshop will provide you with a brief overview of which classes to take in order to prepare for the Associate Degree of Nursing program as well as pre-licensure BSN or RN-BSN programs. It will also go into detail about how to make yourself as competitive as possible.

    • Stop by and learn about the various services provided for our students at both the Intercultural Center and our Undocumented Student Resource Center. Find out how both centers can assist students just starting out and those already working toward their goals.

    • Will food be provided?  A: We will have Shaved Ice, food items may also be pruchsed at the cafeteria while supplies last. 
    • Will planners be available?  A: Yes!  Free COC planners will be available, while supplies last.  
    • Do I need to RSVP?  A: No, RSVP's are not necessary. Just come!
    • Can I have my COC student ID card made at Welcome Day?  A: Yes!  You'll be able to get your ID card made. However, if you can also have it made before or after during normal business hours with a valid student ID number. 
    • Will the campus tour help me find my classes?  A: Yes!  The campus tour will help you determine the location of your Valencia on-campus classes.  
    • What kind of workshops will be offered?  A: The workshop schedule will be posted on this website the first week of August.  
    • Where will Welcome Day be held?  A: Welcome Day will be held primarily in the Honor Grove of the Valencia Campus.  There will also be open labs, and workshops that will be held in select classrooms and lab spaces.  Check back on this site during the first week of August for additional details.  
    • Do I need to sign up or preregister for a workshop I'd like to attend?  A: No, just show up!
    • Will Academic Advisors be there, to help me plan out which classes to take?  A: Yes!  We will have Academic Advisors available during Welcome Day.  
    • Will the bookstore be open?  A: Yes, the bookstore will be open from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. 
    • Will there be clubs at Welcome Day?  A: Yes, a few clubs will be present.  You can also stop by the Associated Student Government (ASG) table and the Campus Life & Student Engagement table. 
    • Do I need a parking pass for Welcome Day?  A:  No, you don't need a parking pass.  Feel free to park in any student parking space.
