About the Program

Program Description

The Dance program introduces students to a variety of dance techniques, theories and styles, both contemporary and classic. There are numerous opportunities for students of all skill levels and interests to develop talent in performance and choreography by participating in informal concerts or enrolling in the COC Dance Company. Many dance courses meet general education requirements in the arts, humanities and/or physical education categories. An associate degree is not available in dance at College of the Canyons.

Distinctive Focus

The focus of the program is on providing students with a variety of dance styles, training, techniques and performance opportunities.

Career Opportunities

The following usually requires a four-year degree:

  • Professional Dancer
  • Choreographer
  • College Dance Instructor
  • Studio Dance Instructor
  • Dance Therapist
  • Dance Researcher

Degree Requirements

An associate degree is not available in dance. Students wishing the associate degree should major in general education and include those classes listed on the courses page and other courses required by the transfer institution.
