DANCE 100 - DANCE APPRECIATION
A non-movement course that examines dance through the viewing of videos, dance performances
and lecture discussions.
DANCE 101 - INTRODUCTION TO WORLD DANCE
An introductory course that focuses upon the teaching of selected dances of the world,
Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, and Africa.
DANCE 111 - FUNDAMENTALS OF DANCE
A preparation for all dance styles, focus upon ballet, modern and jazz.
DANCE 121 - MODERN DANCE 1
Introduces the techniques and styles of modern dance.
DANCE 122 - MODERN DANCE 2
A continuation of modern dance of techniques and styles. Prerequisite: Dance 121.
DANCE 131 - INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ
Emphasis on elementary skills and techniques of jazz dance.
DANCE 132 - INTERMEDIATE JAZZ
A continuation of jazz dance technique. Prerequisite: Dance 131.
DANCE 133 - INTRODUCTION TO AFRICAN DANCE
A movement survey of the dance cultures of West Africa.
DANCE 134 - BALLROOM AND SOCIAL DANCE
Introduces waltz, fox trot, cha-cha, tango, swing, flamenco, and salsa.
DANCE 135 - BEGINNING TAP DANCE
Teaches basic rhythms and techniques of tap.
DANCE 141 - INTRODUCTION TO BALLET
Basic skills and techniques of ballet exercises are introduced.
DANCE 142 - INTERMEDIATE BALLET
Continuation of skills introduced in beginning ballet.
DANCE 159- COMMERICAL DANCE
Introduces movement techniques for the dance concert and dance industry including
movement for videos, industrial shows and other commerical applications.
DANCE 160 - DANCE PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE
Course focuses upon learning and performing repertoire by faculty and guest instructors.
DANCE 161 - CONCERT DANCE ENSEMBLE
Intermediate and advanced dancers serve as the school dance company and perform in
community venues as well as campus productions. Prerequisite: Successful audition.
DANCE 170 - INTRODUCTION TO CHOREOGRAPHY
Introduces fundamental choreographic skills. Prerequisite: Successful audition.
