Humanities Courses

Humanities Courses offer students a quality introduction to world civilizations and the disciplines that constitute the humanities: art history, English, film studies, modern languages, history, and philosophy. These courses offer students an intellectual framework for assimilating and contextualizing both the history of human civilization and the discliplinary knowledge that they will encounter in later humanities courses. As an introduction, the interdisciplinary nature of these courses is particularly valuable. They allow students to draw connections between disciplines that are familiar to them from high school (history and literature) with disciplines that are more likely new to them (art history, film studies, and philosophy).
