How To Apply

Apply to College of the Canyons

  1. Submit a College of the Canyons application
  2. Obtain a student ID number
  3. Set up a mycanyons account
  4. Obtain a COC email

You must submit a signed copy of the Essential functions or Technical standards with your application.


All applicants are required to review the essential functions or technical standards prior to applying to the program (must sign and attach complete pdf form to application).

SRT FOR ENGLISH/MATH ASSESSMENT LINK

Using the link above, complete the SRT (Self-Report Tool) for English/ESL and math assessment to submit with your application for accreditation purposes. Students are not required to complete any prerequisite courses, and the results of the English/ESL and math assessments are not used in the admission process.

This assessment is designed to help identify any academic support you may need to succeed in the Pharmacy Technician program. It is not a placement test, and your results will not affect your eligibility. Please attempt all sections, including the chemistry questions, in order to complete and submit the assessment. However, chemistry is not a required subject for the Pharmacy Technician program—those questions are included to help identify potential support areas.

  • Highly Recommended: Have basic English language reading, writing, and speaking skills, and/or be at an ESL Intermediate High level
  • Highly Recommended: Have basic math skills
    * College of the Canyons offers several non-credit classes in English and math free of charge. Students who may not meet the required English and basic math skills for the Pharmacy Technology program are encouraged to take these classes prior to enrollment to improve their proficiency and increase their chances of success in the program.

As part of your application to the Pharmacy Technology Program, you are required to submit a personal statement (500–600 words).

Please describe your motivation for pursuing a career as a pharmacy technician. In your statement, include any relevant experiences, coursework, or skills that have prepared you for this field. Share your understanding of the responsibilities and importance of the pharmacy technician role in supporting patient care.
Explain how this program will help you reach your career goals, and discuss personal qualities such as attention to detail, reliability, empathy, or communication skills that you believe will contribute to your success in this profession.

Your response should be thoughtful, specific, and written in your own words.

Pharmacy Technology Application tentative dates May 5, 2025-May 30, 2025

  • APPLICATION WILL OPEN AT 12PM ON MAY 5, 2025 
  • APPLICATION WILL CLOSE AT 5PM on MAY 30, 2025

After submitting the online Program Application, you will be routed to the Upload Documents page.

The following documents must be uploaded in PDF format only:

  1. PDF copy of High School Diploma or High School Transcripts or GED Certificate (Official transcripts will be required for state licensing). If high school completion is from a foreign country, you must have the document translated into English. The translation does not have to be an officially sealed transcript.  The following are examples of viable translation services:
  1. PDF of signed technical standards
  2. PDF of Self Reporting Tool (SRT) for English and Math Assessments
  3. Personal Statement

You will receive a confirmation email, via your COC student email, with your Pharmacy Technology Application Submission within 24 hours of application submission. CHECK YOUR COC STUDENT EMAIL!

If you do not receive within 24 hours please call the Health Professions and Public Safety Office (661)362-3557 to confirm your applicaiton has been submitted.

June 20, 2025
