James Glapa-Grossklag is Dean, Educational Technology, Learning Resources, and Distance Learning at College of the Canyons.
He is recognized as a global leader in Open Education. James earned tenure as a faculty member in history. He holds a BA in History from Illinois Wesleyan University, an MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago, a Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning from CSU East Bay, and a Certificate in Higher Education Leadership from Cornell University. Chloe McGinley

Chloe brings 10+ years of experience in higher education, with a commitment to academic innovation to promote student success. Working in Professional Development, Online Education, and Tutoring and Learning Center, she has helped to build collaborative, inclusive, equity-minded practices across the college in educational technology and effective pedagogy.
Chloe's leadership is informed by a background in youth development and community engagement, including working in South Africa on humanitarian aid projects. Chloe holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication. She has represented the college at both the state and national levels, as well as with international university partners to champion student-centered support services across all learning modalities.
She is the co-author of an original online course connecting AI, OER, and Open Pedagogy, as well as a COC Non-Credit Certificate course for students on the ethical and practical uses of generative AI. She has been part of a national team developing a training program for faculty from broad-access institutions to learn to teach with AI.
At COC, Chloe has been a student, part-time employee, classified professional, and adjunct instructor.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage sons, traveling, and hiking around Santa Clarita.
Peter Hepburn

Peter Hepburn has been Head Librarian since 2013, having come to the college from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and innovation (EdD) from Arizona State University and an MLIS from McGill University. He has a long history of engagement in the American Library Association and is committed to intellectual freedom and supporting students through the provision of library services and resources.

Joy is the Director of Online Education and has worked at the College since 2016. She holds a BA in Psychology and BA in Sociology from the University of Southern California and earned her MBA from California Lutheran University. Joy is dedicated to eliminating barriers of access and leveraging the opportunities flexible learning modalities provide for inclusive teaching and learning.
Jacob Cable

Jacob Cable joined the Learning Resources division in 2021 after spending 15 years within the California State University system. He has a Master of Public Administration from San Francisco State University and is pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Learning from Vanderbilt University. He works to help students overcome the bureaucratic barriers that are sometimes present in higher education institutions.
