Education Center to Hold Grand Opening Jan. 29

A grand-opening event for the new College of the Canyons continuing education center on Soledad Canyon Road will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The event will allow students and community members the opportunity to learn more about the center’s programs and to register for free classes.

“We are very excited to meet potential students and answer any questions they may have about our new center,” said John Makevich, dean of continuing and community education at the college. “Our goal is to meet the needs of working adults in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

The continuing education center will offer tuition-free English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, as well as vocational ESL and citizenship courses. Computer courses and career skills courses are expected to be offered at the center in the future.

The college will continue to offer continuing education courses at its Valencia and Canyon Country campuses, as well as at several satellite locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

The grand opening is scheduled 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 18718 Soledad Canyon Road in the Edwards Canyon Country Stadium 10 shopping center.

The event will include giveaways and free food.
