    • The Child Development Major is designed for students planninng careers in early childhood educationn in public or private schools, and/or social service agencies.  It focuses on studies of the growth and development of children in relation to the family, school, and community.  The Child Development Major is designed as a complete four-year program at La Verne, but it also complements community college programs in Early Childhood Education. 
    • Progression through the program requires assessment of program learning outcomes.

      Application deadlines: one week prior to the start of each term.
      Financial Aid: Submit the FAFSA online www.fafsa.gov
      GPA & Transfer Units: A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, 15 CD Units including RCS 110, College Writing &RCS 111, College Writing & Research
      Transcripts: Official transcripts from all colleges attended must be sent to the ROC Admissions Operations. Students with less than 28 units must also submit official high school transcripts. Official transcripts are required for all AP, CLEP, and DANTES exams.

Bachelor of Science in Child Development

Term 2022-2023
Duration 11‐12 term accelerated, cohort‐based program. Semester terms are 8 weeks, classes meet once per
week. This cohort has a specific beginning and ending date. Cohorts formed throughtout the year.
Costs Undergraduate Tuition: $645 per unit Academic Service Fee: $30 per class Application Fee: $50 (waived
if you attend an Information Session) Graduation Fee: $140
Scholarships Academic Merit Scholarship (AMS): Amount: $400 (4‐7 units) & $800 (8+units) per term.
Eligibility: 28+ transferable units including English 101; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Transfer Agreement Guarantee (TAG): Amount: $400 (4‐7 units) & $800 (8+units) per term.
Eligibility: For students transferring from COC w/consecutive enrollment; 28+ transferable units including English 101 and a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher. Visit the COC University Center to apply
Units 128 semester units required to complete a bachelor’s degree. Of these units: A minimum of 44 semester hours must be taken through University of La Verne A minimum of 44 semester hours must be in upper‐division courses 5 Upper Division units in General Education
