Counseling COVID-19 Protocol
Counseling Appointments
Currently, individual counseling appointments are conducted both online via Zoom and in-person at the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses. Should a counselor become infected with COVID-19, counseling appointments may have to be postponed or rescheduled on short notice. The Counseling Department will make every effort to accommodate our students and continue providing access to Counseling services despite any setbacks due to the pandemic.
Masks are currently REQUIRED at the Valencia Counseling office for all staff and students.
Express Drop-In
The Counseling Department has made an effort to return to in-person service through providing Express Drop-in sessions at both our Valencia and Canyon Country campuses. A number of measures have been implemented to create a safe space for our students and staff. These include:
- Masks are REQUIRED at the Valencia Counseling office for the immediate future. Masks are recommended at the Canyon Country office.
- A single entry and exit point are observed.
- Only 1 person at a time is served in a drop-in session.
- Plexiglass partitions are used at every counseling station.
- At the Canyon Country campus, students speak to counselors through the walk-up window.
We also continue to offer Express Drop-in online via Zoom. Should there be exposure
or infection of COVID-19 in the office at either campus, and in an abundance of caution
to protect the health and well-being of our staff and students, the Counseling Department
may choose to temporarily close in-person services and move Express Drop-in to online
service only.
Counseling Workshops
Counseling workshops, such as our Academic Recovery, Pre-Nursing, and Transfer workshops,
are currently available online via Zoom only. As with our individual counseling appointments, the Counseling Department
will work to bring these services back in-person in accordance with Los Angeles County
Department of Public Health guidelines.
