Online Job and Internship Listings


Career Connect by Jobspeaker is our online database for employers to post employment and internship opportunities for COC students and alumni. Setting up an employer account allows you to connect to community college students and alumni throughout San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and northern L.A. counties. Once you are registered, you will be automatically added to our employer invitation list to participate in upcoming job fairs and events.

    Thank you for deciding to post your employment opportunity(s) with College of the Canyons Employment Center. There is no fee to you for this service and your job or internship position(s) will be made available ONLINE to students and alumni. 

    The following are the guidelines for posting online with the Employment Center:

    • The position must clearly state (no fine print) if there is any form of a fee (and the amount) including background check fee, start up fee, start up package/kit/set/materials fee, licensing/test fee or payroll deduction that may or may not be reimbursable or earned back through sales or promotions of items or services
    • There must be a job or internship title (what position(s) are you recruiting for)
    • The position must include a company name and address
    • Staffing agencies are acceptable
    • There must be a clear job or internship description
    • Non-paid training programs are not eligible for posting
    • All jobs and paid internships must be paid at the current minimum wage or above
    • The position must not discriminate in any way on the basis of sex, national origin or citizenship, religion, language, age, etc.
    • Jobs and internships are initially listed for up to 2 months
    • The Employment Center reserves the right to determine posting eligibility

     
    Internships:

    • Paid and unpaid internships are eligible for posting
    • All internships must meet the requirements on the Internship Program website
    • Unpaid internships must also adhere to the seven labor laws
    • Add “Intern” to all internship posting titles

    Other important information:

    • The posting of an open position does not constitute knowledge, endorsement, or consent by College of the Canyons, nor does College of the Canyons assume any liability for the content of any listing
    • There is no guarantee that we will be able to fill your position in any given period of time
    • We cannot guarantee that a candidate will work out successfully and cannot be held liable for poor workmanship, performance, etc.

  • The Employment Center Team hosts various job fairs and recruitment events throughout the year to connect employers to our students and alumni. Our recruitment events are:

    • Customized to meet your employment needs
    • Marketed through Jobspeaker to our students and alumni, as well as through targeted sourcing and outreach throughout the community college system in our region

     

    On-Campus Recruitments: Utilize a reserved table in a high traffic student area to share information about your opportunities directly with our students by completing a Table Request Form two weeks in advance to allow for proper marketing of the events to our students.

    • Students and alumni throughout our region are actively using Jobspeaker to look for jobs and/or internships
    • A link to all new jobs is posted on our Employment Center Facebook and Instagram pages weekly
    • When you post an opportunity on Career Connect by Jobspeaker related to a specific field of study offered at COC, we notify our current students and recent alumni from those programs about the opportunity
  • College of the Canyons has a strong commitment to Work Based Learning through internship experiences which integrate classroom learning with hands-on professional experiences in the world of work.
