Welcome to the Internship Program at College of the Canyons. Staff is available to assist with internship application process and permission to register in a Work Experience (WE) course.


Please note: Students must have an internship or job in place prior to enrolling in the Work Experience (WE ) course. It is the students' responsibility to secure an internship or job.

For assistance with searching for an internship, students can make an appointment with a College of the Canyons Employment Center Job Developer. To make an appointment with a Job Developer, visit the Employment Center website.  They can also assist students with a resume, cover letter, interview preparation, LinkedIn profile and more.

  • Fall 2024

    • September 10, 2024 – December 7, 2024
        

    Work Experience (WE) Course Enrollment:  We are currently accepting paperwork for enrollment for the Fall 2024 term WE course. Students must complete all paperwork and enroll in the course before the one-time class meeting takes place in September 2024.   • All WEE Students

    Submission of the following forms is required for all students seeking to enroll in the WEE course.

    Students will have the opportunity to complete the Voluntary Activity Waiver and Orientation Completion Form electronically after viewing the Work Experience Orientation.


    Unpaid Interns Only

    Students particpating in an unpaid internship and enrolled in a WE-186 course are covered for Workers' Compensation Insurance by the Santa Clarita Community College District for the purpose of the internship.

    Contact the Internship Office for a copy of the Workers' Compensation: Pre-Designation of Physician form. This form must be completed, scanned and returned to internships@canyons.edu before permission to enroll in the CWE-186 course can be granted. 

  • The Internships/Cooperative Work Experience courses are governed by California Education code, Title 5; students unable to meet one or more of the department policies may be administratively dropped.

    1. Internships staff will verify employment using information provided on the WE Course Application.
    2. Attendance on the first day of class is mandatory.
    3. Students employer must agree to allow the student to use their workplace to execute a class assignment via a workplace project.
    4. Students employer/supervisor must agree to meet with the CWE faculty to establish the students workplace project.
    5. Students are required to complete work hours before the section ends.
    6. Students must submit timesheet(s) electronically to Canvas by the date indicated in the course syllabus.
