COC Welcomes Navajo Student Delegation To Campus

July 31, 2024

On Tuesday, College of the Canyons (COC) welcomed a group of Navajo Students who are registering for school. COC hosted the group of Navajo students from New Mexico who began their registration process and are set to come to COC at the beginning of fall.

During the students’ two-day visit, they were able to tour the campus and begin their onboarding process to become students, according to officials. The students are also scheduled to visit Six Flags Magic Mountain during their visit here, added officials.

In 2023, COC was awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges to fund a Native American Student Support and Success Program (NASSSP). The five-year grant allows the college to ensure the educational success of the Native American students and strengthen pathways to and through the community college system. The program includes student transfers to the University of California and the California State University systems, according to officials.
