Deborah Jenkins
Deborah Jenkins has an MA in Art History with a specialization in the Art of the Pre-Columbian
Americas and a BA in Fine Art with a specialization in 3D Design. She has had graduate
seminars and field studies in European Art from Ancient to Contemporary, the Art of
Africa, Mesoamerica, Oceania, the Andes, Native American, and Islamic Art and Architecture.
For her graduate work Deborah did research in Mexico and South America. She received
the Ishimoto Scholarship to the arts for her work. A copy of her thesis, The Iconography
of Negative Vicus Anthropomorphic Ceramics, is in the research library at UCLA. Deborah
currently teaches Beginning Drawing, 2-D Design and Art History at College of the
Canyons. She has also taught upper an lower division classes in Artistic Forms of
Expression, Art History, Topics in Latin American Culture, History of Graphic Design,
The History and Theory of Visual Communication, Advanced Photoshop, and Dreamweaver.
Deborah is a studio potter. As a potter her work has been chosen for Ink and Clay
38, Big Fish Small Pot V and the Orton Cone Box Show. She is a member and Historian
for the American Ceramics Society Design Chapter and has a Certification in Ceramic
Technician. Deborah is currently president of Pearleye, a web development/web maintenance
company, prior to starting her business Deborah was a Corporate Executive Visual Coordinator
and Director with Bullock's, Robinson's-May, and Bloomingdales. Before that, after
earning her degrees, Deborah worked in the contemporary art department at Sotheby's
Auction House.
