Health and Human Services Week 1 (July 9 - 13)

In this three part camp students will be introduced to:

• Nursing - students will learn the importance of handwashing, how to start an IV, perform a physical assessment including vital signs.
• Fire Technology - A brief history of the Fire service including L.A County and Los Angeles Fire Dept. And the daily routing of a fire fighter before the shift starts. Safety-Civilians-Fire Fighters. Fire Dept. Equipment and apparatus. Fire prevention and life safety education.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - In the Emergency Medical Technician portion of the day, students will discover the role of an EMT, how to safely stop bleeding, splint a broken bone, triage (sort) patient at the scene of a disaster and perform Hands Only CPR. (1 day)
