Introduction

This course is an introduction to the visual arts produced by selected peoples of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas from the prehistoric to historic periods. The topics covered in the course are representative of the art and architecture produced by these groups emphasizing how art is representative of the cultural, religious, social, or political orientation of each region.

Course Description

The course is conducted entirely online. Even though we will not be meeting in a traditional classroom we will have plenty of interaction and I look forward to getting to know each of you better in this online environment.

What to Expect in this Course

You must have daily access to a computer with a reliable online connection. You will also need a word processing program such as Microsoft Word and Power Point.

We will be using Canvas for class information, to receive and turn in assignments and to participate in forum discussions with classmates. If you have never used Canvas or have not taken an online course, consider watching some of the Canvas video tutorials.

Your Canvas course site will be available the morning of the first day of class.
