Welcome to Art 140, an introductory course on the basic fundamentals of 2-D pictorial art! This is a summer session meeting Tuesday through Thursday for 8 weeks. Art 140 is an introductory level, art studio course. I am your instructor, Carolyn Robertson.

Course Description

Art 140 is an introductory level, studio art course during which we will complete several 2-D artworks that explore different concepts and ideas about how to make an effective composition or design. You are expected to spend a minimum of 20 hours per week on classwork.

We will utilize various learning formats in this class, Canvas in particular. You will view high-resolution images and videos online. Therefore, in order to be successful in this class you should be able to navigate the internet successfully as well as being able to download  (and work with) images and files.  However, no special software (Photoshop, etc.) is required.

In addition to making art, weekly lectures and critiques will be conducted. Your ability to be articulate and a willingness to discuss your art and that of your peers is therefore essential.

We will also view and analyze works of art and design by noteworthy artists throughout the ages.
