Introduction
This is a hand on class. You will learn principals and diagnostic procedure for heating and air conditioning. You will get a good taste of the industry in this class. Automotive has been my life. I received my training at Pierce College and earned my degree with an emphasis in automotive technology. I started in the industry as a mechanic for Mazda working on the rotary engines. Then I went to work for the City of LA Department of Water and power as an equipment mechanic. I will tell you how wonderful that was. I than went to California State University Los Angeles and studied engineering. I moved up at the Department to a safety engineering associate. I started my independent automotive repair shop in Northridge Gary’s automotive than also opened an Auto Body shop. Additionally I put together a professional sprint boat racing team. All this was done because I was a good mechanic liked working on cars and boats and businessman. You can do that also and I want to coach you.
Course Description
You will understand how to work with a customer complaint. Learn how to properly diagnose heating and air conditioning complaints. I will instruct you how to use the AC recovery and charging station, the proper use of AC gauges and a vacuum pump. You will learn how to use all data and discover TSBs and Recalls. You will understand how to work with plastics and not to break them. You will enjoy this class. You will be able to keep you and your customers cool in the summer and warm in the winter how great is that
What to Expect in this Course
You will learn and understand how to deal with a customer complaint and confirm a repair.
You will learn the theory and operation of air conditioning equipment operation.

Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health.
