Hello, I am Dr. Alex Lichtscheidl and I am teaching organic chemistry during the summer. This is an 8-week course that covers all the topics of the first semester portion of organic chemistry.
This course will cover the following:
Hybridization, Oxidation Numbers
Physical Properties, Laboratory Methods
Nomenclature, Conformational Analysis, Newman Projections
Chirality and Optical Activity
Substitution, Elimination, Addition and Redox Reactions
Mass Spectrometry, Infrared and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies
What to Expect in this Course
Each week we will meet via Zoom and during our meetings you will attempt to complete the labs, quiz and homework assignments.
Types of Assessments
In this course we will have 14 quizzes, 12 homework assignments, 24 labs, 3 exams and 1 final exam.

It is very important that you read the book ahead of time and attempt practice problems on your own time. Organic chemistry is a class that can only be mastered through practice.
This course can be accessed on the first day of class via Canvas at https://coc.instructure.com. Log into Canvas using your CanyonsID single sign-on:
