Introduction
Welcome to CONST-122 – California Plumbing Code and Systems. In this course you will learn the purpose and scope of the California Plumbing Code and related plumbing systems. You will also apply the various sections of the code and the standards and regulations promulgated by the Plumbing Code to various plumbing systems. In addition, various plumbing systems used in both residential and commercial buildings will be analyzed.
Course Description
Introduces plumbing systems used in buildings and other construction projects, including systems for water, waste, storm water, fuel gas, medical gas and vacuum, sewage disposal, water reuse, and reclaimed water. Surveys the Plumbing Code requirements for each of these systems.
What to Expect in this Course
This course will be taught online LIVE via Canvas/Zoom and will meet every Monday at 6:00 pm. Please use the following link to login to Canvas where you will be able to join the Zoom meeting every Monday at 6:00 pm https://coc.instructure.com/login/canvas.
CONST-122 is a 3 unit, full semester (16 week) course that meets once a week for 3 hours online via Zoom. All your course work will be done via Canvas https://coc.instructure.com/login/canvas. Once you’ve logged into Canvas, open the course shell titled “Plmb Systems/Plmb Code – 2021FA:56456.” All course content can be found within this shell. I will make available (publish) chapter reading assignments, in-class assignments, and homework assignments each week – see syllabus (in Canvas) for details. Quizzes and exams will be taken within Canvas as well. Feel free to email me with questions.
Types of Assessments
The course will be assessed using in class assignments, homework assignments, quizzes, and exams.
Textbook Information
You are not required to purchase a textbook for this course. We will be utilizing the FREE on-line version of the California Plumbing Code, which I will show you how to access on the first day of class.

Management of Stress and Mental Health
Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore). At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.
You can also now use the Crisis Text Line: Just text "Courage" to 741741. Someone will get back to you immediately. Its free, 24/7, and confidential.
Veterans Resource Center
