Introduction

This 16-week course is taught 100% online. You will be required to attend synchronous meetings. This course is conducted entirely online, which means you do not have to be on campus to complete any portion of it. You will participate in the course using COC learning management system called CANVAS.

Course Description

We will cover chapters 1 through 8 in the text.  Topics will include right triangles, static and dynamic trigonometry, radians, trigonometric graphs, trigonometric identities, inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric equations, vectors, complex numbers, polar coordinates, and other topics if time permits  along with basic algebraic and geometric ideas, skills, and tolls used in trigonometry and other STEM math courses.

What to Expect in this Course

You will need to have computer access with Chrome as a browser. Computer must have speakers, webcam, microphone, and zoom downloaded on your computer to take this class.  Some of the documents in this course will be available to you in PDF form.  If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer, you can download it by going to http://get.adobe.com/reader/.

Types of Assessments

There will be total of 4 exams throughout the semester. Your lowest test score
may be replaced by your final exam score to improve your final grade.

Homework will be assigned each lecture, and there will be time at the beginning of each lecture to address any questions from the assigned problems.  Homework problems will prepare you for the exams.  Periodically, I will select specific assignments to check and grade.

In addition to homework, there will be several quizzes that will be based on previous homework problems.  You will be able to use your homework (and nothing else) to assist you with these quizzes.  Again, keeping up with the homework as it is assigned is essential in order to be successful in this class.
