Introduction
Hello and Welcome to the course! I am very excited that you are taking this course to sharpen your professional skills and I am thrilled to share in your personal and professional development journey.
This is a 16-hour course offered over a four week period. Be sure to post to the first discussion by the deadline in order to stay enrolled in the course.
Course Description
Provides human resources professionals with a more advanced employment law review, update on current legislation, and case analysis impacting employees and employers in the workplace.
What to Expect in this Course
We strongly encourage you to strive toward passing the Human Resources Academy courses. If you earn a passing grade in all courses associated with a certificate you can earn a certificate of completion! This will increase your value to future employers, give you something to show for all your hard work, and strengthen your resume and/or LinkedIn profile! More detailed information can be found on Canvas. In order to receive a Pass for attending this course, participants are encouraged to:
- Watch all videos
- Fully participate in discussion boards
- Complete final assignment
- Earn at least 80% of the total points.
Types of Assessments
This class is offered as noncredit. All noncredit courses are graded as Pass (P) or No Pass (NP). Grade Breakdown:
• Pass (P) = 80 - 100%
• No Pass (NP) = Less than 80%

Human Resources Professionals Certificate
Provides an advanced employment law review and explores human resources strategies to optimize the organization to achieve a competitive advantage. Designed for those individuals interested in stepping into a higher-level strategic human resources management position. To earn this certificate, you must complete the following two courses.
- NC.BUS3A LEGAL REVIEW AND UPDATE FOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS (16 hours)
Provides HR professionals with an advanced employment law review and update on current legislation impacting employees and employers in the workplace, including laws pertaining to EEO, prevention of discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, occupational health and safety, benefits, record keeping and data/reporting requirements.
- NC. BUS3B STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (24 hours)
Explores human resource strategies to optimize your organization to achieve a competitive advantage. Focuses on attracting and selecting top talent, onboarding best practices, employee performance, retention, and conflict, and practices to mitigate risks, reduce cost and increase efficiencies.
