Welcome to NC.CGSL 001 – Resources/Strategies to College! My name is Liz Shaker and I am looking forward to working with you throughout this course. We have a lot of great topics to discuss to help you make a smooth transition to College of the Canyons. Please reach out to me at any time if you have any questions or concerns. This course introduces the skills necessary to succeed in college courses. Topics that will be covered include: academic expectations, financial aid options, California Residency status, academic and career educational options, College of the Canyons Resources and goal setting.
What to Expect in this Course
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Identify Student Services resources on campus.
- Evaluate Associate Degree and Certificate options.
- Employ time-management strategies
- Demonstrate personal and academic goal setting.

There is no text book required. We will be using Open Educational Resources (OER) materials for this course! There is no cost to you as a student – all the materials necessary for this course are FREE to you and will be available through Canvas in an online format.

Veterans Resource Center
The College of the Canyons Veterans Resource Center is a department within the Student Services Division at the college, created to help veterans and veteran dependents with applying to College of the Canyons, enrolling in classes, and requesting VA Education or Vocational Benefits.
